Dear Friends and Supporters,
My name is Tasneem Al-Michael, and I proudly serve as the Manager of Community Engagement at the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice (OCCJ). As I approach the completion of my first year, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s vital mission of promoting understanding and eliminating bias, bigotry, and oppression throughout Oklahoma.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in spaces that allow me to build bridges between communities, witnessing first-hand the power of collective leadership. I’ve had the privilege of co-founding of the Oklahoma City Asian Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board of the Interfaith Alliance, and working at the Oklahoma Policy Insitute. These experiences have fueled my commitment to equity and justice, and I bring this passion into my service at OCCJ—advocating alongside those who need it most.
As part of my role, I’m particularly excited to announce the launch of a major initiative: the Community Action Coalition (CAC). The CAC is designed to unite a broad network of community members, leaders, and organizations through collective action, launching innovative engagement programs, and grassroots community organizing. By amplifying under-represented voices and advocating together for meaningful policy change, we aim to build more equitable and inclusive communities across the state. Our state needs tangible and powerful movement building. Partnerships—my word of the year—are how we build community and how we make lasting change. You can join the CAC today by filling out our interest survey. We have several gatherings planned through the end of the year.
As we build momentum with the Community Action Coalition, we need a base of financial support to work with communities to provide them with programs that address their needs.
By making a financial contribution to OCCJ in Oklahoma City, you invest in the vision of the CAC. Your support as donors, alumni, and board members is essential to the success of the CAC, and your gift makes a direct impact.
The work of OCCJ is deeply personal to me, and I’m honored to serve alongside all of you advancing our shared vision of justice and equality. Together, we make Oklahoma City a better place to live, work, and thrive. Will you join me in building our movement for a more inclusive and just Oklahoma?
